Lighthouse material was collected by Steven Heaton for his presentation to the LTI Historical Society about 2010 when the keepers house was threatened with demolition. Other material and coins from unknown sources, given to Bill Boulton who donated it to the archives.
Scope and content
Collection consists of – a photo on foam board of Gananoque Narrows keeper’s dwelling (Nat Archives of Canada) – photo on foam board of Jackstraw Lighthouse (Mary Alice Snetsinger) – photo on foam board of a house being drawn be horses across the St Lawrence River (Thousand Islands Museum, Clayton NY) – copy of a 1930s postcard of the Narrows Light, Gananoque – 3 photos of the lighthouse keepers dwelling after moving to Old River Road and before demolition – photo of the burning of the Narrows Light House 1967 – 41 slides of contemporary and historic photos and people associated with the Narrows Light and other light houses on the river, -- transcript, map and photos of Wilstead cemetery by Irwin Ruttle, Lorraine Latimer, and Myrtle Johnston – “Gray Family Tree” historical review by Dr. Kenneth Gray, and Genealogical Computer Printout by Gary Raine, 2003 – Copy of studio photo of Charles and Margaret Gray. -- (artifact) 2 copper one penny bank tokens dated 1842 (Bank of Montreal) and 1857 (Bank of Upper Canada)
