2021-008 Susan Seal Fonds

This material was recovered from the loft of a shed/blacksmith shop at Marble Rock owned by John Cain, a descendant of the Seal family. It included artifactual items from the Ladies Orange Benevolent Association, which were entrusted to the collection of the LTI Historical Society because they did not fit the artifact collection policy of LTI Archives. They included a tin candle lantern with yellow glass lens masked by a star shaped front cover, a tin menorah-type candle stand, a wooden black-ball type ballot box with 2 drawers, a stuffed fabric pin cushion in the form of a tall button shoe, with glass beaded decoration. Three artifacts carved and forged by John Cain were retained for the Archives collection as examples of original artistic creation from within the Township of Leeds & 1000 Islands.
